Unfortunately, the Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR) has ruled against former PGA Tour reporter Teryn Gregson, who as you know hosts our very own “Faithful Freedom with Teryn Gregson”. In so doing, the FCHR ignored due process, refusing to allow Teryn to present her evidence which proves that providing her with an accommodation to work at home, rather than submit to the Tour’s masking and testing mandates in violation of her religious beliefs, would not have worked an undue hardship on the Tour. Indeed, Teryn has proof that her show’s rating were higher than ever before while she worked from her home studio! The FCHR also side-stepped the Supreme Court’s decision in Groff v. Dejoy, released just this year, which changes the standard for employers in religious accommodations cases, so that employers must prove that the burden to provide a given accommodation would have been “substantial” (rather than the old test, which required only a showing of a “more than de minimus”, i.e., minimal, burden). We are now preparing to appeal this egregious miscarriage of justice.
