In June, we first reported to you the case of parents Amanda and Paul Guidry, who had their four children medically kidnapped by the state just for using an alternative medical treatment known as chlorine dioxide. We have just learned that all four children have been returned home to Amanda and Paul, pending a hearing scheduled for October! This would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of our attorneys, who we would not have been able to hire without your donations. But the battle is far from over. The Guidrys were only able to get their children back by signing and agreement with the state promising not to use chlorine dioxide while this litigation is pending, despite the fact that Amanda and Paul saw amazing improvements in the health of their six year-old autistic son after using it. The Guidrys also had to promise not to homeschool their children. We believe this was tantamount to holding the children hostage. Parents should never be forced to relinquish their rights to make medical and educational choices for their children in order to regain custody of their children from the state.
This is why we need to keep fighting in court. We plan to present medical experts and other evidence to demonstrate that the Guidrys were not harming their children, and hold the state accountable for its malfeasance toward the Guidrys.
