At We The Patriots USA, we are committed to protecting freedom of speech for all Americans, enshrined in the First Amendment of our Constitution. And these days, that of course includes social media platforms. Regardless of whether you love or hate TikTok, Congress’s ban on the platform – under the guise of a supposed national security threat from China – is a serious threat to our right to free speech. Allowing censorship or any removal of our rights in the name of “national security” or a “state of emergency” is a slippery slope. We saw it with the Patriot Act. We saw it with covid lockdowns and mandates. And now, we are seeing the same playbook used to stifle free speech on social media, as with this TikTok ban, known as the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFFACAA).
The PAFFACAA is dangerous. And that’s why today we are proud to announce that we have filed a federal lawsuit against Attorney General Merrick Garland to challenge its constitutionality. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and influencer Kristen Meghan Kelly (host of our podcast Vets and Visionaries) have joined us as co-plaintiffs in this litigation. While we are a nonpartisan organization and take no position on Mr. Kennedy’s political aspirations, we believe that it is important to defend his right to free speech, Kristen’s right to free speech, and each and every American’s right to free speech (regardless of political affiliation or viewpoint on any issue). Read our federal complaint in its entirety HERE.
The First Amendment was designed to protect ALL speech, and especially unpopular speech that the government would prefer to suppress. We are dedicated to ensuring that you never have to live in fear of the consequences of expressing the “wrong” opinion, or for simply stating facts. Please help us wage this battle, and many more like it, by making a tax-deductible contribution to our organization today.
